During the war with the Slave Rebellion the intelligence bureau's were working overtime to decipher messages from the Slave Rebellion Fleets towards their home bases. To aid them in this cause, they also obtained the aid of several Jedi on Union City.
After several weeks it seems like an important message was intercepted and the Jedi Council asked for assistance to investigate a location near the slave rebellion border. Preliminary reports of the system indicates a water world within the goldilock zone.
Contact Jedi Master Screetor to join the mission.
((OOC: This is my first mission for Fwurg, I have storyteller experience, but never on forums, If there are any problems, don't hesistate to ask.
I aim for a twice per week posting frequency, with ST posts on mondays and thursdays. I would love to adhere to this frequency and although I won't push, I will continue (if no reason for not posting is given of course).
This mission can contain a maximum of 3 Jedi with a maximum of Force Lvl 7, if a 4th player really wants to join I will split the teams up.
The mission will probably be action oriented, but may contain some immoral dillema's.
Edit: Why Can't I make the place 14 -9? in the title?))

Tera Inogo quickly contacted Jedi Master Screetor, happy for any chance to go on an actual mission and get in on the action, instead of reading dull texts on Jedi morality in the library all day.

As the Jedi entered the briefing room they saw that not only Master Screetor was present, but also Padawan Jaicen Hedoss.
Master Screetor wasted no time and started the mission briefing right away: "We have intercepted several communications from the Slave Rebellion fleets to their probable system of departure and the Jedi Order has been asked to aid the Union to decipher them. Jaicen here has deciphered a message originating from sector 15-9, which is near the Slave-Rebellion zone of control. We have reason to believe a major command center is present in the star system and it might contain answers on the reason of their invasion and rapid build-up of planetary defence systems."
"Cala is the star system the message originates from, so we ask you to go there, investigate and preferably start diplomatic talks... if possible. Jaicen will remain here."
"For this mission you will be assigned a BT-7 Thunderclap spaceship, on which the destination location is already programmed.
A pilot or other supporting personnel can be provided if desired. Please prepare yourself thoroughly, We expect you to depart tomorrow."
"Any Questions?" Master Screetor said patiently while looking at the Jedi.
((OOC: Please state your equipment, questions or other possible actions within the jedi temple. People can still join until we leave.))

"I do have a question, " Darones asked, "is the content of the message relevant to this mission, or not?"
After receiving an answer to his question, Darones went to the Temple's library to see if he could find out more about the Cala and it's inhabitants.
He also wanted to speak with Tara about their approach to the mission, and perhaps with the Quartermaster if needed, but that would depend upon the information he could gather in the Library.

"You can show him the message, Jaicen." Said the Master while looking at Jaicen.
Jaicen, who until now has not said a word, came forward and showed the message to Darones: "Here you go, Darones."
"I hope this helps, Darones, Maybe you could do something with the name?" Jaicen said.
Information for fleet Command
12 - 3, The Remunzian Sector.
Slave Rebellion Fleet 23 and 11.
As known our Intelligence within The Union capital has verified a possible incursion in Remunzia. 3 UDF fleets will be arriving at your sector in 1
. An advisable strategy is to place yourselves between the planet and Remunzia. Any shot misfired should land on Remunzia in this case. This will make them think twice of attacking our planet. If the need persists, use of nuclear ordinance on the populace of Remunzia is an advisable strategy. I know I can't order you, but as an ex-fleet leader I have some experience.
I expect my planetary defense to be ready on time. Your updates sound promising and we supplied enough resources to make this happen. Wipe out their fleets with this weapon, that will teach them. Good Luck Admiral.

Darones went searching within the Jedi Archives on the Cala sector.
The reports he found were rather old, still from the times of chaos. Several of them were physics papers which depicted the unique star to this system.
It seems like it is a Neutron star with at least 15 planets in its system. After reading several boring papers Darones noticed a geological paper which described that one of the planets was within the

Neutron Star Cala
This incredibly dense stellar remnants has been created approximately 1 million year ago, when its massive star suffers a rapid collapse and explodes in a supernova. The Diameter of this star is 14 kilometer, but its mass is many times greater than an average G-type star.It seems like it is a Neutron star with at least 15 planets in its system. A Rocky world with a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere and a significant hydrosphere. Oceans cover more than 95% of the surface, with scattered islands making up the remaining percentage. Signs of intelligent life detected by means of unintelligible artificial radio signals. We could not investigate any further due to local Hutt presence. They have at least one space station above this planet. We suspect that any native slave-labor is aquatic.Last edited by Jhovall on Sat Apr 15, 2017 5:55 pm, edited 2 times in total.

((OOC: No probs!))
Tera was somewhat taken aback by the openness with which the mission and the information pertaining to the message was shared. She looks over the message with contained curiosity
Tera quickly realizes that something is off about the message.
"Master Screetor, has the ministry of defence been informed that they have a mole within their chain of command? As far as I know, military orders to the Union fleets are on a secure channel and encrypted by Union security keys. So the only way they could know of the fleets arrival a whole week in advance is if the ministry has a leak; the fleets take only a single week to move over the whole Union territory, so taking into account that the information must go from Unity to Cala, and than to the remunzian sector, their agents would have needed to know that the orders have been given almost immediately after they were given."
The second thing she notes is that the mesage is written as if there are two planets in the remunzia system that have been captured. Or as if they expect remunzian forces to engage them over the planet, otherwise the wording "between the planet and Remunzia" makes no sense at al. She simply makes a mental note for later reference of this strange message.
"Master, what is the actual mission?", she asks slowly, as if unsure about the question. "We are at war with the Slave Rebellion, so if we simply show up to investigate around and start to talk with them, things will surely go sideways really fast. And to be honest, I am not really well-versed in diplomacy...", she trails off.
((OOC: I'm holding off on posting my equipment since Tera is still talking with Master Screetor. After getting answers, I'll post her preparations!))

((OOC: I do not exactly know how Screetor would respond and hopefully I don't interfere with his normal behavioral pattern))
Master Screetor clearly notices Tera's response to the message and with a tranquil voice he responds, it is clear that he tries to be informative: "It is vital that Jedi operatives get every information possible to their mission, even if this includes state matters. We've noted several missions which could be more successful if more information was available to the young padawans. You might want to read up on a mission to escort the Veolian empress to the Slave rebellion. The message does not necessarily mean a mole is present, other reasons for this knowledge are possible. But this is also the reason Jaicen stays here, to decipher more messages to determine the culprit. We will inform the ministry of defence."
Master Screetor explained Tera's questions further: "Investigate, as told. It is up to you how you do it. We do not expect you to stop the build-up or resupply of this planetary defence force. Nor do we expect you to take out their leader. It would be beneficial if you could find out the leak however. The definition of diplomacy is: The skill of managing international relations, typically by a worlds' representatives abroad. There are other ways than open talks on equal footing, Padawan."
"Does this answer your questions?"

"I understand, master.", Tera has the feeling that at least the direct objectives are much clearer now.
She joins Darones in the library to research the Cala system. Knowing that the most likely planet of interest is covered in water, she will have to adjust her normal equipment to make sure that she will be able to operate. Since she has heard from her previous master about the issue of underwater lightsaber battles, she asks Darones to help her water-proof her lightsabers later today — she knows that he has previously done so before, so that should cover the problem of weaponry.
For the rest of her equipment, she plans to visit quartermaster Nishra.
As she walks through the temple to where the quartermaster hands out equipment for missions, she thinks over the expanded mission as described by master Screetor. Clearly, they had to determine where the leaked information came from, at least. And they had to report back findings on this "weapon" that the message speaks of. Tera determines that taking out their leader, and stopping or hindering the build-up and resupply of the weapon are probably targets of opportunity, otherwise master Screetor would not have called them out explicitly. In her mind, the fact that he does not expect her to do so does not mean that they aren't objectives.
She isn't sure yet how she should handle the contradictory objectives of "preferably start diplomatic talks" and "other ways than open talks on equal footing". Maybe, she feels, getting to their leader and having a discussion that involves form zero would meet both objectives...
Her thoughts are interrupted once she arrives at quartermaster Nishra's workshop. As instructed by jedi master Shebi Ajava, she discusses the equipment with quatermaster Nishra directly, instead of having a written list ready to rattle off. She explains the environment she is going to, and asks for some additional equipment.
With her equipment collected, and her lightsabers waterproofed, she is ready to depart.

Darones was happy to help Tera with her lightsabers, he had indeed done this several times and it only took a little time to ensure they would also work underwater or in extremely wet environments. While he was at it, he also checked the seals on his own pair of sabers.
While working Darones asked Tera, "Any ideas on how we are actually going to get in? While getting us there doesn't seem like a real problem with the ship provided, we do need a plan to actually reach the planet. Last time posing as traders worked well, but then we would need to bring some actual goods to trade...
Also, how do you feel about flying that ship for a while?"

Darones creates and checks waterproof seals on his and Tera's lightsaber and found that they'd probably suffice for at least a few hundred meters below the sea. He guessed that the pressure would crush a human first before the lightsabers would crack.

((OOC: Clarification request: I'm a tad confused. Darones isn't checking the seals on Tera's lightsabers, he is waterproofing them since lightsabers are not waterproofed by default (unless the jedi using them is of an aquatic species).
Right now, it appears to me that your IC description is contradicted by your OOC approval; the IC description only states that he is checking seals while he is actually actively waterproofing Tera's sabers, while the OOC remark approves my equipment (which clearly states "waterproofed").
Is my interpretation that the OOC approval overrules the IC text correct? (If not, Tera will have to visit Quartermaster Nishra to exchange her lightsabers for one that is waterproofed, since she is not going to a water planet without a lightsabers that works underwater ~_~)))
